Warning issued over ‘sinkhole’

The public are being warned of a potential sinkhole at the Bay of Skaill, Sandwick, after an incident last night.

The coastguard were called to the aid of a woman at the beach at around 10.20pm.

Arriving on the scene, the rescue team found that the woman, with the help of a man, had managed to free herself from the sand.

According to Orkney Islands Council the area has been cordoned off while situation is being looked into.
