One of the largest ships of the 2015 cruise ship season is due to arrive in Kirkwall on Thursday.

The 333m long Royal Princess, the flagship of Princess Cruise Lines, carries up to 3600 passengers and 1300 crew, and is due to berth at Hatston Pier at 7am on Thursday morning.

This will be the maiden call to Kirkwall for the Royal Princess, which was christened by the The Duchess of Cambridge in June 2013.

The 141,000 tonne vessel is 19 decks high, and one of its most unique features is the ‘seawalk’, a glass walkway where passengers can look down to see the ocean underneath.

The vessel is scheduled to return to Kirkwall on September 1.
