Big weekend for live music fans

Local band, Electric Mother are appearing at both Loud n’ Live tonight, and GlastonBurray tomorrow.

It will be a banner weekend for live music fans in Orkney, starting tonight, with Loud N’ Live — a fundraising event featuring local bands, in aid of mental health and suicide awareness for young people.
The gig, taking place at the Orkney Sailing Club tonight, has been organised by ROAR and Orkney Live Wire, and will feature appearances by the likes of Cosmic Soup, Electric Mother, Nacho Heap, A.I.N and the Andy Taylor Group. The event is open to over 14s.
Tomorrow night, Burray’s very first music festival, GlastonBurray will take place in the community Hall, with a stellar line-up of ten local bands.
The Chair, Those Boys, Rocker, Bad Apple and The Silver Penguins are just some of the acts on the bill at the event, at which music fans can pitch a tent, and enjoy a barbecue, depending on the weather.
The event sold out within days of it’s announcement, and will raise funds for the Burray School Playground, and the Community Hall.
For something a little different, the Orkney Jazz Festival kicks off in Stromness this evening, in the Stromness Hotel.
The festival will feature the Creole Jamboree on Friday, Mardi Gras on Saturday and Music from all on Sunday.
