Palace Players through to SCDA Scottish final

The Palace Players have taken second place at the SCDA Northern Divisional finals, held in the Birnam Institute over the weekend.

The team, who performed Baby Sparklers (Frank Gibbons), directed by Jane Harcus, said they were “over the moon.”

They now look forward to performing the play once more at the Scottish Finals on home turf, in Orkney, running in the Orkney Arts Theatre from April 23 to 25.

Palace Players were also presented with the Kennedy Thomson Quaich for best stage presentation. St Andrews performed Dig for the Diggers, by Lynn Brittney.

St Andrews Drama Club were presented with the Alan Nicol MBE Trophy for the best moment in theatre and also the Bon Accord Cup for highest points in the district round for a community of under 500.

The winning production on the night was Carnoustie Theatre Club’s performance of The Porch.
