Enquiries to trace missing 35-year-old Shona Johnston have been scaled back.

A large number of resources have been deployed in the search for missing Shona including specialist searchers, dog handlers, SARDA dogs, the dive and marine unit, police helicopter, RAF Search and Rescue helicopter as well as Coastguard and RNLI.

The last known sighting of Shona was on Tuesday, February 24, at around 1pm. Her car was found parked at the Dunnottar Castle car park near Stonehaven, and searches have focused on that area.

Inspector Jon Millar said: “Extensive enquiries have been carried out in the local area in a bid to trace Shona but we have still not found her. This is still a missing person enquiry and I would ask that anyone with information gets in touch with us.

“In addition if anyone sees any clothing or belongings or anything usual please contact us as this could be relevant to our enquiries. Searches have been scaled back but any new information will be considered and acted upon. Police can be contacted on 101.”
