Merry Dancers show as all-night summer twilight ends

The recent spell of fine weather ended last night, close to midnight, just as the “Merry Dancers” were about to put on a show.

According to Rousay astronomer John Vetterlein, the next few months could prove interesting since the Sun would appear to have just passed solar maximum in the eleven year cycle, signifying that aurora might appear at almost any time.
