Stroke group offers support

A leading figure from the Stroke Association is due to visit Orkney next week.

Fiona Craighead from the Orkney Stroke Support Group said that many people who’ve been affected by stroke find help and support from others who have had similar experiences.

She added: “Orkney Stroke Support Group offers peer and social support through monthly meetings and a variety of activities. Anyone interested are invited to come together, share experiences and try out new things”

At its August meeting, which takes place next Tuesday, the group will be hosting Lynne Kalman from the Stroke Association. She will be speaking about the association’s excellent work which provides information, support and research into stroke prevention and treatment.

She went on to say: “Whether you are a stroke survivor, carer or someone who is interested in supporting the work, you will be made welcome.”

The meeting takes place on Tuesday, August 26, between 1- 2pm, and will be held in the Kirkwall and St Ola Community Centre.
