Police in Orkney are continuing with their appeal to trace local man Michael Ritch, who was last seen around 9pm last Wednesday, July 23, and whose car was found in the Yesnaby area.

A police spokesman said this morning, Monday, that no further searches are planned, however enquiries are still ongoing.

Michael is 33 years of age and described as being about 5 foot 8 inches tall, of slim build with short dark hair and last seen wearing a dark blue jacket over a dark blue polo shirt, blue denim jeans, brown shoes and a blue beanie style hat.

Since he was reported as missing an extensive land, air, and sea search took place in the area, involving police, a Coastguard helicopter, Coastguard teams, and Stromness and Kirkwall Lifeboats.

These searches have now been stood down and concluded with no positive sightings.

If anybody who has seen Michael, his red Skoda Fabia, or know of his current whereabouts, are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.

It is also requested that members of the public in the local area please check sheds, garages and outbuildings to assist police as part of their ongoing enquiries.
