The Chair to play Glasgow Green

Orkney band The Chair are set to play the on the main stage of Glasgow Green this week, as part of the city’s Festival 2014 celebrations, running alongside the XX Commonwealth Games.

The eight-strong group will play as part of Celtic Connections’ — Glasgow’s winter folk festival —  day on the Green, this Friday, July 25. Theirs is a lunchtime set, from 1pm, ahead of performances from other leading folk acts throughout the day, including Lau (featuring fellow Orcadian Kris Drever), Roddy Hart’s Roaming Roots Revue, and Shooglenifty with the Dhol Drummers of Rajasthan.

The band will then head south to play at Dumfriesshire’s Wickerman Festival on Friday night, the Otley Courthouse in West Yorkshire on Saturday, and the WOMAD festival, in Wiltshire, on Sunday.
