Orkney writer set for radio appearances

Orkney writer Ron Ferguson is due to be a guest on two BBC Radio Scotland programmes this weekend.

Today, Mr Ferguson — a lifelong supporter of Cowdenbeath Football Club — is set to appear on the lively football programme Off The Ball, which starts at noon and is hosted by Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan.

The appearance coincides with the launch of Mr Ferguson’s new publication — an updated, 21st anniversary edition of his cult football book Black Diamonds and the Blue Brazil.

The original book is out of print, and has now been completely revised and updated, with new forewords by some of the biggest names in Scottish football, including Sir Alex Ferguson, Craig Brown and Jim Leishman.

Then, tomorrow, at 7am, Mr Ferguson will be interviewed by friend Richard Holloway, the writer and former bishop of Edinburgh.
