Orkney FC match off due to frozen pitch

O.FOOTBALL CLUBOrkney FC’s match against league-leaders Halkirk United was the victim of a very late call-off this afternoon due to a frozen KGS 3G pitch. With Halkirk looking to extend their lead at the top of the North Caledonian League, and Orkney hoping to gain a first-ever victory over their opponents, aswell as close the gap at the top of the table, both teams were hopeful that the game would go ahead.

However, heavy rainfall had made the pitch very wet in some areas, and with the drop in temperatures freezing the water, the pitch was deemed unplayable.

There wasn’t to be any North Caledonian League action this weekend as the matches between Alness and Invergordon, and Thurso and Golspie Sutherland also had to be called off due to frozen pitches.
