Orkney Islands councillors have backed dropping plans to charge for “lifeline” telecare services, including community care alarms.
Users of the service were strongly against any payment having to be made — a message which was fed back to elected members following consultation.
Members of the OIC social services and housing committee recommended today, Wednesday, that no charge be introduced.
